Terms of Service
WattPenny is free to use. In return we ask you to accept that the numbers are estimates, and that the site is not a substitute for your utility's bill or a professional's advice.
Effective date: September 16, 2026. By using www.wattpenny.com (the "Site") you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Site.
1. What the Site provides
The Site offers a free electricity cost calculator and informational guides about household electricity use. The calculator computes estimates from figures you enter and from published average data. It is provided for general information and educational purposes only.
2. Estimates, not bills
All results are estimates. They depend on the accuracy of the wattage, hours and rate you enter, on typical appliance data that may not match your specific appliance, and on state-average electricity rates that may differ from your utility's actual tariff. Your actual bill will include fixed charges, taxes, tiered or time-of-use pricing and other factors the calculator does not model. Do not rely on the Site's figures for any financial, purchasing, contractual or legal decision without verifying them against your own bill and, where appropriate, professional advice.
3. No professional advice
Nothing on the Site is electrical, engineering, financial, legal or safety advice. Guidance about appliances, wiring, circuits, heaters and similar equipment is general in nature. Always follow the manufacturer's instructions, local electrical codes and the advice of a licensed electrician. Never exceed the rating of a circuit or outlet on the basis of a calculation from this Site.
4. Accuracy and updates
We make reasonable efforts to keep the data current and correct, and we note the data month and last-updated date on each page. We do not guarantee that any information is accurate, complete or up to date, and we may change or remove content at any time without notice.
5. Intellectual property
The Site's text, design, code and compiled tables are owned by WattPenny unless otherwise stated. Underlying government data (for example, EIA electricity prices) is in the public domain. You may:
- use the calculator for personal or commercial purposes;
- quote short excerpts and individual figures with attribution and a link to the source page;
- share links to any page.
You may not reproduce entire guides or tables, scrape the Site systematically, remove attribution, or present the Site's content as your own.
6. Acceptable use
You agree not to interfere with the Site's operation, attempt to gain unauthorized access to any part of it, use automated tools to generate excessive traffic, or use the Site for any unlawful purpose.
7. Advertising
The Site displays advertisements served by Google AdSense. Advertisers are responsible for their own content, and we do not endorse any advertised product or service. Please do not click on advertisements for any purpose other than genuine interest; artificial or fraudulent clicks violate Google's policies. See our privacy policy for how advertising cookies are used.
8. Disclaimer of warranties
The Site is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Site will be uninterrupted or error-free.
9. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, WattPenny and its operators will not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, consequential or special damages arising from your use of, or inability to use, the Site or any information on it, including decisions made in reliance on calculator results.
10. Third-party links
Links to external websites are provided for convenience. We do not control and are not responsible for their content or practices.
11. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. Changes take effect when posted on this page. Continued use of the Site after a change means you accept the new terms.
12. Governing law and contact
These terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which the Site's operator resides, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Questions about these terms: hello@wattpenny.com.
